The diamond that went from a car boot sale to auction…

Understanding the value of jewellery pieces

I’m guessing that there will be an upsurge in the number of people heading to their local car boot sale this weekend after the news that a diamond ring bought at one for £10 was sold at auction for £656,750….

CNN ran an interesting article on pieces of importance being found in unusual places. Having worked in the auction business it is true to say that stories like these do crop up. I once had a client who found some jewellery belonging to an ancestor hidden in the pedestal leg of their dining table. It is not uncommon to be able to advise a client that something they thought was worthless does indeed have some value undoubtedly the lesson is never to assume.
